(Reuters) – The brand new York Post apologized quickly Sunday hours after its app was apparently hacked in what was stated to be alerts about President Donald Trump.
“The push alert system for our mobile app was compromised this evening. Please accept our apologies,” the newspaper said on Twitter a long time following the alerts sought out.
The tabloid newspaper failed to provide info about the alerts through the app, but screen grabs posted online by Twitter users included a reminder reading “Heil President Donald Trump!” among a set that ran on Saturday, which had been April Fool’s Day.
Other posts were more cryptic, vague or seemingly religious by nature, with all the final one reading “with Lucid Love, Selah,” based on media reports and screen shots posted on Twitter.
The Post is a member of News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA).
